We are reintroducing our 'Dwelling on the Word of God' feature in the hope of encouraging people to contemplate a small section of sacred scripture over and over. The hope is that, through contemplation, God's Word will speak to us and enter into our hearts.
It's easy to read scripture as if it were just a book and many of us are guilty of this. But it needs to be considered as God's Word, not just a group of words on a page.
For this reason we have selected a small section of today's Gospel reading and will do so each day to encourage serious contemplation on God's Word so that it may penetrate our hearts as well as our minds.
Today's Scripture passage:
'So Jesus went with them, and was not very far from the house when the centurion sent word to him by some friends: ‘Sir,’ he said ‘do not put yourself to trouble; because I am not worthy to have you under my roof; and for this same reason I did not presume to come to you myself; but give the word and let my servant be cured.'
