The World Medical Association has once again reaffirmed its continued strong opposition to euthanasia, reports Peter Saunders on his Christian Medical Comment blog. The WMA’s resolution on euthanasia states that: Euthanasia, that is the act of deliberately ending the life of a patient, even at the patient’s own request or at the request of close relatives, is unethical. This does not prevent the physician from respecting the desire of a patient to allow the natural process of death to follow its course in the terminal phase of sickness. |

Take some time to consider this short excerpt from today's Gospel. Try to read it over and over for as long as you can, and let it sink into your heart. JESUS SAID, "LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME, AND DO NOT PREVENT THEM; FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BELONGS TO SUCH AS THESE."

From today’s Gospel: Jesus said “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined, let no man separate.” Marriage between a man and a woman is the subject of very much debate at the moment, particularly in western society. These words of Jesus are certainly relevant to that debate. |

Pope Francis has released his message to the world for World Mission Day 2013. In it he speaks about how faith “needs our personal response” and that it is a gift that we cannot keep to ourselves but must share. He said “if we want to keep it only to ourselves, we will become isolated, sterile and sick Christians.” He also speaks about the missionary task of Christian people to “walk the streets of the world with our brothers and sisters, proclaiming and witnessing to our faith in Christ and making ourselves heralds of his Gospel. |

Did you know that the term ‘do not be afraid’ appears in the Bible 365 times? Some translations differ slightly but, for the most part, you will find this term written in the Bible on 365 occasions. When you wake up each day, remember that this is God’s message to you. He doesn’t want you to be afraid. Most people live in fear of what tomorrow may bring; fear of work; fear of losing money; fear of illness; fear of death. And we let this ‘fear’ control our lives. |
