Pope Francis urges us all to say 'Yes' to life

Pope Francis used his Sunday homily to encourage us all to say ‘Yes’ to life and not death.

In front of an estimated 200,000 pilgrims who joined the Pope on Evangelium Vitae Day, a day which celebrates the Gospel of Life, the Pope said that “all too often, people do not choose life, they do not accept the ‘Gospel of Life’ but let themselves be led by ideologies and ways of thinking that block life, that do not respect life, because they are dictated by selfishness, self-interest, profit, power and pleasure, and not by love, by concern for the good of others.

Pope Francis Blesses Harley-Davidson Motorcyclists

Pope Francis on Sunday blessed participants of a Harley-Davidson Rally who were visiting the city of Rome.  The rally marked 110 years of Harley-Davidson and over 100,000 bikers were in the city over the weekend.  The Pope, in typical style, took some time out to bless 1,400 of them, and their bikes.

Pope Francis: "Anger towards our brother is an insult, it's something almost deathly'

Pope Francis, in his Thursday homily, used today’s Gospel to inspire his message for the day.

Speaking in his native Spanish tongue the Pope referred to Christ’s words to his disciples: “Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.”  The Pope suggested this flowed nicely from the Gospel of the Beatitudes and Jesus’ promise that he had not come to dissolve the law but to fulfil it.  He said Christ wants “reform in continuity: from the seed up to the fruit” and warned that anyone who “enters Christian life will have greater demands made of them than others” and not “greater advantages.

Feast of St Anthony of Padua

A BLESSED FEAST OF ST ANTHONY OF PADUA TO ALL

Some St Anthony Quotes:

"Attribute to God every good that you have received. If you take credit for something that does not belong to you, you will be guilty of theft."

"The life of the body is the soul; the life of the soul is God."

"The spirit of humility is sweeter than honey, and those who nourish themselves with this honey produce sweet fruit."

"Solicitude for material things distracts the soul and divides it.

Another Nail in the Coffin of Life as Belgium Votes to Euthanise Children

Picture: lifesitenews.com

Just when you thought life could not be valued any less the Belgian Parliament is set to vote to allow doctors to euthanise children.

Yes, ‘lawful’ killing of children is no longer to be confined to the womb but will be extended to those outside the womb.  While abortion is a horrific ill and is, in my view, completely wrong, this ‘lawful’ killing of children is, in fairness to the anti-life brigade, a logical next step from abortion.  And then what?

Pope Encourages Faithful to Freely Proclaim the Gospel through Poverty and Praise

Pope Francis encouraged the Catholic Faithful to generously and simply proclaim the Gospel in his homily at the Casa Santa Marta on Tuesday.

The Pope started by quoting St Matthew’s Gospel and Jesus’ exhortation to the Apostles: “Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with coppers for your purses.”  He said the Lord wanted us to “proclaim the Gospel with simplicity, a simplicity that gives way to the power of the Word of God.”

He continued, “Evangelical preaching flows from gratuitousness, from the wonder of the salvation that comes and that which I have freely received I must freely give.

Pope Sends Special Audio Message to the Visually Impaired

The Pope today sent a special audio message to the Italian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired on the occasion of their summer programme.

The Pope said, “I know that some of you wanted to come to Rome….thanks to modern technology, I can come to you!”
He continued, “The Gospels tell us that Jesus had a particular care for the blind….the healing of a visually impaired person has special symbolic meaning: it represents the gift of faith.  It is a sign that concerns us all because we all need the light of faith to walk along the path of life.

Babies with Down's Increasingly at Risk with Advanced Testing

The obsession of detecting Down's Syndrome in babies at the earliest possible stage is continuing with the news that a more accurate test has been developed.

Professor Nicolaides, who is leading the research, said "the test is nearly diagnostic.  It tells you almost certainly your baby has Down's or almost certainly it does not."
He then states, "from a woman's perspective, that is a much more clear message about what to do next."

Pope urges us to be open to God's Love

Pope speaks of closeness and tenderness and of opening ourselves up to God's Love.  Read the full article via Vatican News by clicking the link, below:
