The Holy Father's favourite football team, San Lorenzo, who play in the Argentine Primera Division wore a picture of him on their shirts at the weekend, during their 1-0 victory over Colon.
They did have a bit of help courtesy of a Colon own goal in the 73rd minute; a minor miracle perhaps?
The Holy Father would undoubtedly have been delighted to see his team win, after what has been an incredible week for him.
There are rumours going around that no team will defeat San Lorenzo so long as Pope Francis is on the Seat of Peter; who in their right mind would wish to upset the Holy Father?  San Lorenzo, it seems, are about to enter a momentous period in their history.
