Scots Catholic would like to congratulate one very courageous and thoughtful young lady as she embarks on a pilgrimage to Northern Spain today.
Seventeen year old Niamh Buchanan from Cumbernauld is taking to the hills of Galicia as she tackles a section of the Camino de Santiago (Way of St James) for two great causes.
The first is the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice where children and young people are given care as they cope with life threatening illness. Many may recall the story of five year old Oscar Knox, an incredible little boy whose bravery touched the hearts of so many, and who sadly passed away earlier this year following a brave two and a half year battle with cancer. Young Oscar, from County Antrim, was cared for at the hospice.
The second is for Samuel’s Children’s Charity and stems from one little six year old girl’s brave fight against leukaemia. The charity provides invaluable support, including days out, to families of those affected by childhood cancer.
Please remember these two causes in your prayers and also remember Niamh as she offers up her efforts to those in need.
If you are able, please consider donating to either, or perhaps both, of these great causes by using the links below. You will also find more information about each cause on these pages.
