Dwelling on the Word of God: Building a Relationship with Jesus (Wednesday 4th December 2013)

Your Saviour is patiently waiting to hear from you

From today’s Gospel (Matthew 15:29-37)

‘Jesus reached the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and he went up into the hills. He sat there, and large crowds came to him bringing the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others; these they put down at his feet, and he cured them. The crowds were astonished to see the dumb speaking, the cripples whole again, the lame walking and the blind with their sight, and they praised the God of Israel.’

How loving is God??  The lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb….they all come to Jesus in the hope of healing and they receive that healing.  All their suffering disappears because Jesus loves them and they love Jesus through their faith in him.  It is faith and love that cured these people and it is faith and love that will cure us.  By showing love to Jesus and by having a deep faith in him we too can be completely healed.

In order to do this we need to have a relationship with Jesus.  How is your relationship with him?  Remember he is real so you can speak to him!  You can tell him all your troubles or maybe you would rather tell him all your joys!  Whatever is on your mind share it with Jesus because he is desperate to build up a relationship with you, today!  And yes it is as simple as just taking some quiet time out and talking to him.  There is no great science to it!  Of course being present before the Blessed Sacrament or attending Holy Mass will give you an unrivalled visible closeness to Jesus and this must always be part of our prayer life.  But you can talk to him anytime to keep building that relationship.  Try it now!  Just take yourself away to a quiet place and start talking to him.  Get into the habit of being open with him and showing him how much faith you have in him and how much love you have for him.  He will perform miracles for you too….
