From today’s Gospel (Luke 10:21-24):
‘Filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, Jesus said, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children.’
A lot of what we read in Scripture talks about seeing things as children and being like children. Why? Because children are innocent, they have humility, and, above all, they trust. It is easy for a child to trust someone. They don’t ask any questions, they don’t have the same cynicism we adults tend to have, and they aren’t overly sceptical when they are asked to believe something. They just believe it!
And so it is with God. He wants us to stop questioning and believe! If we believe then great things will be revealed to us and we will receive abundant graces. By becoming like children we learn to trust in God’s Will; we learn to trust in His Divine plan for each one of us.
