From today’s Gospel (Luke 11:5-13) ‘So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For the one who asks always receives; the one who searches always finds; the one who knocks will always have the door opened to him. What father among you would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread? Or hand him a snake instead of a fish? Or hand him a scorpion if he asked for an egg? If you then, who are evil, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!’ Today we are being instructed to speak to God, which is very much aligned to our recent Dwelling on the Word of God contemplations. If we speak to Him and ask Him for what we want or need then, provided it is according to His Will, we will receive! If it is not according to His Will then we must trust in Him. We must always trust that He has heard our prayers but we cannot lose heart of he doesn’t answer in the way we want or the way we expect. He knows what we need and He knows what is best for us. Remember the ‘perfect plan’ I referred to a couple of days ago. Well, we must trust in this completely. We can have all the desires we want and we can think we know what we need to achieve our goals here on earth, but ultimately, God knows best. Trust Him. Give Him your life and let Him guide you. |
