Prayer Intentions:

Vocations to the Priesthood

God needs YOU!

Our current prayer intention is for vocations to the priesthood.

The Archdiocese of Glasgow has released a short film about the priesthood in order to encourage greater consideration of vocations. Many of you will know that we have a serious shortage of priests, particularly here in Scotland, and that we have recently embarked on an unfortunate consultation about the future provision of our parish communities. This could well mean that some parishes will eventually close.

We desperately need young men to seriously consider whether God is calling them to serve him in this most special ministry. And we also need families and friends to encourage young men to think about the priesthood.  This doesn't mean forcing them to be a priest, but it does mean encouraging them to explore the possibility should they ever raise it in conversation.

Could you follow in the footsteps of Peter, Thomas, Bartholomew, Andrew and the other disciples? Could you take the greatest news the world has ever received and bring it to others? Jesus needs young men to bring his own precious body and blood and his unfailing love and mercy to the world. If you think you could do this then please do contact your local priest.  Or, if you are in the Archdiocese of Glasgow area please do consider going along to the University of Glasgow chaplaincy, Turnbull Hall on the second Friday of each month for an informal evening of prayer, catechesis and fraternity with Father Ross Campbell.  Father Ross can be contacted on 0141 339 4315 or at Ross.Campbell.2@gla.ac.uk

Please also add a prayer for priests to your intentions; be it at Mass, during a Rosary or even your daily morning/night time prayers.  They all help.
